From the beginning of time every planet with life on it was given one immortal guardian....Indeed immortals they were before Maelon...
These guardians raised from the constellation Xenopus, made up of fourteen stars. This constellation can be found in Shield Cloud galaxy. The constellation itself, as well as the galaxy, was seen as the representation of the god of duty, which is how it received the name still used today. Guardian's task was to protect the planets from dangerous and evil things from distant space until those planets can be safe forever. Can it really be safe forever?
Where there's life, there's death and where's light, there's darkness. 
Guardians' true powers come from 6 crystal fragments from planet's core, each planet with unique core crystal and each crystal fragment with its unique powers and shields!
Story says that only planets with life have these powerful crystals and that life itself emerged from them and only with life can those crystals be raised from the core! With all crystal fragments collected from planet's core, guardian can finally activate the timeless master shield which can protect the planet for generations and generations, and guardian finally could be free, but no guardian so far was able to break free. It was so believed...
There are stories about 7th mighty crystal, also known as Black Crystal, who could only emerge from one spark of dark matter with powers beyond comprehension.
The legend says that only with all core crystals from all planets combined together into crystal beams can that spark be created....
It is also believed that the 7th crystal has ended the big Andromeda battle in ancient times...
But those are only stories...or aren't they?
